Professor Peter Robert Bartel PhD: Senior Supervising Technologist

Professor Peter Bartel has had a long and illustrious career in Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine. He has been the Head of Neurophysiology Laboratory, Department of Neurology, Pretoria Academic Hospital and University of Pretoria since 1981 and full Professor of Clinical Neurophysiology since 1995.

He has been and is the examiner for practical and theoretical course for EEG technicians, Examiner of B Clin Tech Projects, (Neurophysiology), Durban Institute of Technology and Central University of Technology and the examiner for Electroencephalography for M Med (Neurology), University of Pretoria.

Professor Bartel is the supervising technologist to the Pretoria, Benoni and Morningside Sleep Centres and provides overview of standards in sleep technology to sleep centres in South Africa and Internationally.

He has published more than a 100 peer review articles and serves on the editorial board of various scientific publications. In addition, he serves on the Executive Committee of the South African Society of Sleep Medicine (SASSM)
